In 2015 Monica brainstormed the idea with her colleagues for an added event feature to the City of Dallas free programming for the community taking place at Fair Park. She brought in the Plano American Sewing Guild as support and to help teach some projects in the beginning. Project Sew began with specialized projects taking place on a Monday.
In the Fall of 2016 Project Sew moved from Fair Park due to the State Fair of Texas to Tissu Fabrics however Monica continued to look for a permanent home within the City with no breaks. In 2017 a new date, day, location and format were announced.
Now three years later Project Sew has taken its own form. The diverse group of women come to sewcialize and sew for fun. We share, we support and last but importantly we enjoy our time spent. Sewing can be a lonely hobby at times but Project Sew allows for a great setting for sewists of all kind. The open sewing theme has been a popular feature but every now and then we add specialized classes to sharpen our skills.
So if you you enjoy sewing and sewing in groups? Then come sew with us at Project Sew! Project Sew is free and open to the public with a City of Dallas Recreation Center Pass. Join us for the whole day or a few hours. Come and go as you please but don’t forget your sewing machine, materials and your lunch.
Registration and City of Dallas Annual Recreation Pass is required.
