As an event planner I truly enjoy planning events. The largest part to it is how you want your guest to feel. This year, I will be hosting a Friendsgiving at my home. Something fun for my intimate group of friends. This past year has been tough on us all and I want to make sure that my guest feel special.

I headed over to my local JoAnn and saw the beautiful pumpkin décor they had and I picked up a few sizes. From ceramic to fabric pumpkins JoAnn’s has a great array of color and sizes.
I had an idea in my head of creating beautiful fall inspired décor. I wanted browns, tans and orange and decided to make my own table linens from the napkins to the placemats to add to the table. This gave it that personal touch that I wanted.
JoAnn has everything you need to plan your Friendsgiving!
Here are some tips in planning your décor.
- The first thing you want to think about is your color scheme. Play with prints by choosing various color ways of the fabric. Pull one color and make sure that each element you have can be tied into it.
- Start with your blank canvas and build from there.
- Choose an accent color
- Add a pop of color
- Add dimension by adding texture, various sized objects and different colors
- Personalize your settings

For my fabric, I have always loved plaids and when I saw these beautiful plaid colors I was torn. I was torn because I instantly saw clothes..LOL.. Yes, I wanted to make a shirt and skirt with the fabric. But as I closed my eyes, I instantly saw the table and how the colors went with my pumpkins.
To make the place mats:

- Cut your fabric to your desired length and width. Mine was cut to 14×20.
- Fold each side down about 3/8 of inch and then fold again.
- Sew down the 2 opposite sides with a top stitch and then sew the remaining sides
To make the napkins: (Same method of the mats)

- Cut the fabric to your desired width and length. Mine are 17×21 as I wanted them long.
- Fold each side down about 3/8 of inch and then fold again.
- Sew down the 2 opposite sides with a top stitch and then sew the remaining sides
My industrial machine came in handy as sewing 8 napkins and 8 placemats went very fast. When cutting your fabric and working with plaid, I suggest cutting them separate and making sure that every line matches up.
Now for the floral arrangement; I knew I wanted some florals and JoAnn has a nice selection. I saw this beautiful brown rose with leaves and new it was perfect for my table.
Here is how I set my table.
Have fun with choosing your fabrics and next time you are in JoAnn looking for fabrics for your handmade wardrobe look for some for your table décor. Can’t wait to see what you all make.

Xoxo
