Hi Slayers! I finally got a chance to post my paperbag pants from the March SewYourView monthly sewalong. Ladies, these pants are a must have!! Like for real you need to get this pattern and sew as many as you can. I chose a lightweight grayish/black denim fabric love the fabric and how they came out. I cut the pattern bigger because I wanted a more paper bag waisted pant. This is by far one of my favorite patterns. I will be making more of these pants in other colors and can’t wait! The sewing for these pants...
This past few weeks have been crazy on my end. For those that follow me on Instagram and read my stories you know that a friend/co-worker was injured badly at the horse park and I have been helping to take care. Thankfully she will be OK and is recovering. With the injury and a huge event at work that I was planning, I wasn’t able to get my post out to you on time. I am finally catching a breath and getting back to my routine…. so bear with me. First let me say, thank you to all those...
Hi Slayers, we skipped a week but now I am all caught up. My fabric finally arrived, and I am so thrilled! Here is a look at what I ended up going with. I wanted to get the fabric from Ghana however, I wasn’t going to have enough time to receive it, so I ordered from an etsy shop that is popular with a lot of the other sewers/designers that I follow. I decided to go with the black base because I wanted something that I could wear for the evening and get more wears. I’ll be honest, this...
It’s week 3 and we are moving forward in the construction process. I worked on my muslin last week and I need to start my actual garment. I have finally narrowed my fabric selection and I am waiting for it to arrive. I can’t wait!!! Back to my muslin, I finished it early last week. As I stated on my previous post “Making a Muslin” this was an easy sew. The only thing I will work on is bringing it in on waist area and changing the zipper. One of the tools that I love to use is my...
I am all about glowing and growing together. I want to collab more with like minded women who are positive and share the love in sewing. For the April Sew Your View I teamed up with one of my #sewyourview participants and fellow blogger FaithStJules. She loved this pattern and thought it would be a great dress for Easter and the spring/summer. You all know I love a sleeve and this pattern has a few cute sleeve variations. There are many options with this pattern.
Hi ladies!! It’s the 2nd week of the sew-along and its time for muslin. I decided to purchase some cotton muslin from Joann Fabric to work on the dress. First I must say that this is very easy pattern to sew. The directions are clear and concise. I used my washable markers for the markings which is what you see on the fabric, as I typically do. While I was making the dress and trying it on for fit, I thought I needed to adjust the length in the back to adjust for my rear so that all over the...
Hi Slayers! I love a wedding as most people as I am an event planner have planned a few weddings in my time. I enjoy all of the pomp and circumstance that goes into the planning but the best part is dress of shopping. What other wedding is highly anticipated then the one Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. When Meg, from the McCall Pattern Company reached out to me to fill in for Lori due to a personal family emergency, I said yes immediately One because I wanted to help out and two because I was already planning on...
Hi Slayers! Spring has sprung … at least for me it has, and I am ready!! This McCall Pattern #M7723 was one of my favorite makes thi year. It is very clear if you don’t know this by now…. I love sleeves, sleeves and more sleeves! Actually, the bigger the better!!! I was inspired by a look I saw on a instagrammer that I loved. I think I nailed this #sewthelook with my flavor of course! What do you think? She was wearing blush paper bag pants and a sheer top with blush undertones. I love red and...
For months I had to keep this under wraps. I have been following Michelle of ThatBlacChic.com for years. I love… I mean I LOVE her style! She sews for her muse her daughter Mori and let’s just say her work is AMAZING! When she reached out to me last year, I was shocked and humbled all at the same time. Check out her site for her inspiring style pics. A magazine.. me…who..what …why and when? Those were the questions that ran through my mind. Would I have time to get my blog up and running, sew the required looks, take...
McCALL’S PATTERN M7482 I loved making this McCall Pattern M7482. The patterns feature that was appealing to me was it’s fitted jacket and that asymmetrical zipper. I chose to do the hood less version as I felt the hood was too big, plus I really liked the look of the collar piece. The contrasting options were also appealing. I picked out the black crisscross sheer fabric known as performance bonded mesh first from JoAnn Fabrics and then looked for complimentary fabric. I really wanted something that popped and my local JoAnn’s didn’t have that many options. So I trekked it to...
