BLOG POST I decided that I wanted to add a little bit more holiday cheer with my holiday decorations this year. Due to the pandemic and everything being cancelled this summer I knew that the holidays would be a great way to give the gift of love and cheer. When I received my box filled with Fiskars goodies I was instantly put into the spirit of creating a fun project. I was inspired by a fabric pumpkin that I saw while surfing the web and thought to myself how could make that into a faux Christmas tree ornament. I...
We all have had to pivot during this pandemic. I moved from having in person sewing meet ups to meeting on zoom. The same went for the ladies of Sew Creative Lounge in DC. As cities closed due to the pandemic they had to pivot from meeting in person. They didn’t want to stop serving their customers and Sew Creative family so they decided to add additional features to their growing list of offerings. When Cecily messaged me to tell me that they were selling fabric over the summer I loved the idea. I chose 2.5 yards to this...
I was definitely feeling the leaf print motif this summer. For the May SewYourView I chose to use this pretty knit leaf print fabric that I had in my stash and got from Wherehouse Fabrics in Dallas. The fabric is so soft and felt so good on my skin. The pattern McCall’s 8047 #ediemccalls is such a great pattern to make. I had no adjustments for this pattern but for the next one I will size down for the bodice and will add pockets to the pants. I love a pockets. The elastic that was used in the bodice...
I love a black dress and I had been meaning to sew this one up last year. Finally getting my sewjo back after making my bag I was able to whip up this cute dress. I used Vogue Pattern 9253 one of my favorites and shortened it because I honestly didn’t have enough fabric. It came out so cute and I realized that it is going to be a great transitional garment for all of the seasons. I paired mine with some chunky heals my large bracelets, a summer hat and of course my new boho leaf print bag.
The ladies of Atlanta came out and showed out! Honestly, I was not expecting that large of a turnout. But when we sold out in a few days at 20 we opened up registration for a few more seats. We had over 25 women in attendance and though there were so many women, the room and the feeling of love felt amazing and just right. Being an event planner its is natural for me to put events together and create experiences for my clientele. It is a great feeling doing that for my hobby and tying the two into...
SURPRISE!! The cat is out the bag!! Woohoo…..It has been a long few months in the making. Since the Fall of 2018, Nikki of SewingMyStyle and I met in Dallas to talk over the idea of bringing Project Sew to the Atlanta area. I struggled with this as I didn’t see this as a thing. (What I mean by this is sometimes in life you don’t see what you are doing as this big thing. I never do. But then I am so humbled by the support and outpouring of love). Project Sew in a new city? Who will...
Finally!!! I get to share the news of what I have been working all summer. On the Road with That’s Sew Monica will is a series that will run on my YouTube page where I will be going on the road highlighting the sewing and fashion community in the Dallas, TX area.
