BLOG POST
I decided that I wanted to add a little bit more holiday cheer with my holiday decorations this year. Due to the pandemic and everything being cancelled this summer I knew that the holidays would be a great way to give the gift of love and cheer. When I received my box filled with Fiskars goodies I was instantly put into the spirit of creating a fun project. I was inspired by a fabric pumpkin that I saw while surfing the web and thought to myself how could make that into a faux Christmas tree ornament. I also wanted to add some color to my usually silver, gold and white décor which I love but needed something more.
I live in the Texas area and we don’t get snow like I used to get when I lived up north. Though I typically put my holiday décor up the first week in December, I decided that I would start a new tradition and this one is a must with everything that has happened in 2020. With my new Fiskars tools in hand I was able to do just that! Everything I received was handy and just right for my projects.
I sewed everything up late one night and then after my family left the house, I decorated our fireplace mantle. It instantly put me in the holiday mood and I began to play festive music and I even wore all red. I know my family is going to be so surprised when they come home to the décor and I can’t wait to see the smiles on their faces.
Let’s get back to these holiday ornaments I made using my Fiskars tools. Fiskars is a leading brand in the crafting, DIY and sewing industry. Their products are easy to use and make crafting so enjoyable. I wanted something fun and of course BIG as well as something that I could use my new Fiskars scissors with. The Premier 8” Fashion Sparkle in copper and gold are my faves. The pop of pizzazz with the sparkle is all that I needed to feel festive. These scissors are a take on the Orange handled scissors but with these new exciting colors of gold, coper and silver.
LARGE ORNAMENT
To make these large ornaments you’ll need 4 yards of fabric two of each color you like. I chose a really pretty flannel fabric that had a little bit of Buffalo check and plaid. To get started, I grabbed my handy Fiskars Folding Cutting Mat. This mat helps to save space and easily fits in my sewing carrying case bag. The mat is Saturday and the 18”x24” is large enough for my projects. The non-slip backing is perfect for any cutting space. I cut out my pattern that I created sing my Fiskars Premier 8” Fashion Sparkle Scissors. The different colors help me to distinguish which are for fabric and which are for paper. This is a very fun and easy make and just takes a few hours depending on how many you want to make and your sewing skill level.

HOLIDAY ORNAMENT FOR KIDS
Grab your kids for this fun ornament. I had some clear ornaments sitting around the house. I decided to use my Fiskars Deluxe Paper Trimmer to cut small strips of fabric and used the easy change detail craft knife/blade and scissors to cut the diamond applique. The paper trimmer is so easy to use and gets the precise. The large 15” base is ideal for all your paper crafting needs and is lightweight for the kids to handle as well.
Use a hot glue gun to glue strip to ornament and repeat step with diamond applique. There you have it fun, cute and easy.
